Step 1. Cut the Kitchen Towel

Take your kitchen towel, open it along the long side and cut the towel in half.

Step 2. Fold and Sew Your Fabric

Fold it upside down, fold it twice a quarter of an inch and stitch to give it a finished edge.

Step 3. Trace the Pattern on a Tracer Paper, Pin and Cut!

Take the two fabrics. Put the two fabrics right sides together on top of the batting and place your template on top. Download the free template here. Put some pins in. You wanna make sure that your batting and your fabrics are slightly outside your template on all side. Cut all the way around the template.

Step 4. Sew and Cut the Corners

Stitch a quarter inch around your template leaving the opening open. Back stitch from where you start and where you end. Cut a little triangle off right before your stitching as it’ll help reduce bulk. When you turn it inside out it will look better. Cut a diagonal line on the inner corner.

Step 5. Measure and Fold

Step 6. Have Your Tea Towel Ready (the One That You’ve Sewn Previously on Step 2)

Using your top as a guide, fold the towel over and create some pleats. Measure 1 inch down on the towel and stuff this on the top and make sure you have about one inch in. Then take your towel and stitch all around the edge approximately a quarter inch in .

Step 7. Place Your Button and Make a Button Hole

I also want to know how to print out with all the ads. Paper and ink is expensive.

Tutorial doesn’t specify the size of the towel. Did I miss something? Thanks.

I will be making these to give as gifts to volunteers with Baby Gowns For Eternity. We dress babies for Heaven when they pass before, during or soon after birth. We give our gowns to the families at NO COST. We have many volunteers and a way we can say thank you is a little token of these hand towels. I will use velcro for the closure instead of a button. Thank you for the pattern and great tutorial.

Dana: what a blessed lady you and people who are doing this. Such a wonderful thing to do.

Pricilla: I wish the ads would be limited, however, they pay the bills. And don’t you love when a site says to go to a site for a specific reason, and reason or photos not there.

You can print without the ads if you use your “snip tool” on your computer. It almost like copy and paste but a lot easier. You can search for it on your computer.
