How To Make Roman Shades

Want to learn how to make roman shades? Sew your own pair of roman shades with the instructions below. With just a little time and effort you’ll have beautiful handmade curtains to grace your windows. This project is affordable, and should only take a few hours tops!

How To Make Relaxed Roman Shades For Your Windows

For this sewing tutorial I’m going to show you how to make RELAXED roman shades. The difference is the dowel at the bottom. True roman shades have a flat edge, but these relaxed ones add a more casual and comfortable look – and when it comes to decorating I want my home to be as comfortable and inviting as it can be!

To Make Roman Shades you will need the following:

Fabric

  • Measure your window and add 5″ to the width and 15″ to the height.

Basic Sewing Supplies:

  • Fabric Scissors
  • Sewing Machine and Thread

Notions:

  • Drapery Cord String, 3 x the height of your window
