Pokemon Go lovers would surely want to know how to make a plushie! Pikachu is one of the more popular Pokemon characters, you would surely want to add this to your plushie collection.  It’s soft and cuddly and made with items that are readily available. It also does not contain small parts so little kids can also play with it. Don’t just settle with catching a Pikachu! Make one and own one instead!

Pikachu is a small and chubby mouse-like mammal. It’s bright yellow color is unmistakably linked with the Pokemon fame. It is of little wonder that I am featuring this cute anime in today’s tutorial.

Step 1. Stuff the sock

Grab some stuffing and pack it inside the socks. This will give your plushie’s body its shape.

Step 2. Cut and seal the Sock

Next, we are going to cut the top of the socks. Then, we will do a running stitch along the edges. To close the gap, we need to pull the thread and tie a knot to seal it. Make sure you tuck in all the rough edges before tying a tight knot by winding the thread on the needle a couple of times to seal the socks closed.

Step 3. Create a curve with a running stitch

We will now create the shape of the body by sewing around the middle with a running stitch. Once the two ends meet, pull the end of the thread to create a dent in the middle. When you notice that there is a clear division of the body, you can now join the two threads with a knot.

Step 4. Create Pikachu’s arms, legs, tails, and ears

Now we will gather the excess fabric from the first sock and turn it inside out. Do the same to the second sock. Then, with a ball pen, draw Pikachu’s feet, arms, ears, and tail on the fabrics. Then, sew along the lines with a back stitch. Lastly, cut out the shapes but leave a 5mm seam allowance.

Step 5. Stuff the arms, legs, tails, and ears

After sewing the edges, cut out the patterns then turn them inside out again. Stuff only the arms, feet and ears.

Step 6. Making the face

Cut out two big red circles for the cheeks, two medium sized black circles for the eyes and two small white circles for the white spots on the eyes. Cut out a small black triangle for the nose as well. Arrange these cut out felt patterns on Pikachu’s face. Then, pin them in place. Next, draw Pikachu’s mouth with a felt tipped pen then sew along it with a black embroidery thread. Finally, glue the felt patterns in place.

Step 7. Attach the arms, legs, tails and ears

Then, glue on the felt patterns to the plushie’s face. Attach the ears and arms to Pikachu’s body with a ladder stitch. Close the legs with a ladder stitch before sewing it to Pikachu’s body.

Step 8: Making the tail

Cut out the tail pattern out of a foam. Then tuck it inside the tail you have sewn earlier. Next, sew it on to the plushie’s butt. Make sure that you bring the needle through the foam as well.
