Do you want to learn how to sew a stylish and elegant outfit like a tulle skirt? If you want to add a trendy piece to your closet, then you might want to go with an easy DIY project. One good thing about this skirt is that you can pair it with just any simple top, and it’s good to go for any number of occasions. It may look difficult, but I just found out that it’s easier than I thought. Just follow through to learn how.

DIY Tulle Skirt In Just 6 Easy Steps

Here Are the Things You’ll Need:

Materials

  • 4-6 yards of tulle (for a fuller tutu)
  • Elastic
  • Thread

Tools:

  • Scissors
  • Straight Pins
  • Sewi
    ng Machine
  • Needle

Step 1: Measure Your Waist With Elastic

Using the elastic, measure it around your waist for the desired length. Cut the elastic and pin the ends together.

Tip: Measure an extra 1/2 inch for allowance.

Step 2: Gather the Top of the Tulle

Gather the very top of the tulle with just your fingers. Use a sewing machine to hold it in place.

Step 3: Start Sewing

Repeat the gathering process until you’ve gathered about 26 inches.

Step 4: Pin the Waistband to the Tulle

Next, you’ll be shown how to put the band around the tulle to create the waistband. First, open the pin. Put the end of the elastic to meet the beginning of the gathering from the tulle. Pin them together.

Step 5: Stitch waistband Across Gathering Line

Put them back on the sewing machine. Stitch the waistband right across the gathering line that you created. Follow the gathered line that you made and put the elastic right over it.

Step 6: Fill the Waistband With Tulle All the Way Around

It should have a top stitch directly across the line that you’ve already gathered with the tulle. Continue until you fill the waistband with tulle all the way around until it’s 26 inches or the correct measurement to your waist.

Voila! It’s really easy, quick, and simple.

so how does the skirt waist stretch if you sew the gathers in place and you sew on to the elastic?
Seems like your stitches should be zig-zag in order for the elastic band to be utilized.
