A tidy working area increases our productivity. That is why it is important to tidy up our area. However, we sometimes run out of ideas on how to organize our crafting materials.
Creative ways of storing thread and bobbins!
There are so many sewing storage ideas to store sewing threads. You have the option to buy organizers or make us of your old drawers and containers, but I personally think it is more fulfilling to create your own organizer. Some may take a few minutes to make but they are so affordable you won't even think of the time it took to make it.
The best benefit I see with an organized working area is that it is super easy and fast to find the things I need. This is because each item has its own place. I do not waste my time looking for the bobbins or detangling the threads and go ahead with my sewing project.

1. Rubber ring bobbin holder
This rubber ring bobbin holder keeps the bobbins in place. You can lay it flat on the table or hang it on the wall.
2. Magnetic Bobbin Holder
With just a magnetic canvas and a picture frame, you can create this magnetic bobbin holder. Just remove the glass, replace it with a magnetic canvas, then hot glue some accents on the border to perk up your holder!
3. Embroidery Hoop
This is a DIY you can do on your own. All you need are embroidery hoops and dowels. Then, stick the dowels into the embroidery hoop and you will have this wonderful creation.

4. Rubber Bands
One trick in keeping spool and bobbin together is by using elastics. Use the rubber band to stabilize the bobbin and attach it to the spool. It's pretty much a quick process and the elastics are affordable, too!
5. Mason jars
Mason jars are a staple for organizing things before plastics flooded the market. The nifty thing about mason jars is that the glass allows you to see what is inside. Additionally, the cap prevents dusts from settling on the threads.
6. Key ring holder
Key rings are very versatile organizers. They can be used with practically anything that has a hole it it, in this case, bobbins. You can hang this key ring on a peg for easy access.
7. DIY wall rack
This project is a good way to practice your carpentry skills. By adjusting the dimensions, you can customize it according to your need.
8. Ice cube trays
Who would have known that these ice trays are actually useful? The tiny squares are just the perfect fit for the bobbins. A pill organizer can also serve this purpose.
9. Drinking straw
Drinking straws are particularly useful if you want to extend spool holders. Bendable straws are particularly a great choice because the bendable parts helps the bobbins stay in place.
10. DIY spool box
This one is a really cool project because all you need is an old shoe box and some nails. It might be a bit wobbly though so you can actually substitute the shoe box with a wooden box.

I am so excited to use it because tangled threads are really annoying. By the way, I have two more tips for you to avoid your thread from getting tangled. First, use scrunchies to cover the thread. Second, you can cut plastic rings to cover the thread. Both of these tips will prevent your sewing thread from unraveling and tangling.
