8 Sewing Machine Accessories You Need Right Now!

Sewing machine accessories are necessary to make our projects easier. Let me help you jump start your sewing accessories stash with this article.

These items usually accumulate through time. Our favorites depend on the projects we do. I have rounded up the sewing machine accessories that are not only for sewing but also for doing other crafts as well.

8 Sewing Machine Accessories You Need Right Now!

How many sewing machine accessories do you have? I think anyone who is into crafting has a hoarder streak. There is always something pretty to buy just in case we need it. I have a lot of sewing tools in my work place. Some of them I just used once or twice while others are regulars that I cannot live without which I have listed down below.

8 Sewing Machine Accessories You Need Right Now!

1. Sewing Machine Cover

A sewing machine cover is necessary especially if you do not use your sewing machine often or if you store it in a damp, dark, and dusty area. It protects your sewing machine and keeps it clean. If your sewing machine did not come with one, you can DIY it yourself by following this tutorial!

2. Dritz Seam Measuring Gauge

The Dritz seam measuring gauge is handy to use for measuring the locations of small items like buttons or appliques. It takes exact 14 functional measurements.

3. Clover Hot Hemmer

This product really helps when you are pressing hems but they are too narrow. It helps keep your fingers from being burned because it is made from heat-resistant and non-slip material.

4. Iron with Steam Function

An iron with steam function is important in sewing. You will notice the great improvement in your projects when they are neatly pressed like when making mitered corners.

5. Fiskars rotary cutting set

This fabric-cutting set includes an acrylic ruler, rotary cutter, and self healing cutting mat. The rotary cutter can cut through fabric, vinyl, paper or felt. It just makes your task easy!

6. Bobbins and Bobbin Organizer

One of the worst things that could ever happen to you when you are sewing is to have your threads all tangled up! To keep this from happening, you would need to own a bobbin organizer. Buy it or DIY it as long as you have a place to keep all your bobbins well organized.

7. Sewing Gauge

This sewing accessory is particularly useful when marking the distance with buttons, hems, tucks, and pleats. But don't worry because the sliding marker manages to stay in place despite repeated marking.

8. Pin Cushion

One of the best ways to organize your needles and pins is to use a pin cushion. Because their heads protrude, it is easy to access them. Here's a tutorial on how to create cute pin cushions.

TheCraftyGemini has made a great video and even discussed some of the items in her video review.

When I was still a beginner, I went through a lot of trial and errors when it came to sewing machine accessories that worked for me. There were no Youtube reviews back then so you can just imagine the amount of money I have wasted. I am sure you also have your own experience on this too, as choosing sewing machine accessories is based on personal experience.
