How to Make a Purse Organizer
Using a purse organizer will keep your things in order and make even more room for items to fit in your bag. The world may seem chaotic, but we can't have our bags all messy and cluttered.
They say you can only take charge of the big stuff if you can handle the small ones. So, let's start dealing with the small stuff by keeping them intact and in one place using affordable materials.
You’ll Need:
- scissors
- felt paper or any fabric of your choice (make sure it’s not too thick, it needs to be able to bend, but it should have some good stiffness)
- pins
- tape measure
- chalk (optional)
- sewing machine or sewing materials
Step 1: Cut the Base and Pocket Strips
Cut the felt paper into 12 x 12 inches for the base of the purse organizer, and two (2) pieces of 11 x 4 inches for the pocket strips. Then, fold the felt paper for base in half.

Step 2: Mark the Base and Pocket Strips
Then, lay down the pocket strip on top of the base and measure 1 inch from the fold. Secure it with a pin. Do the same on the other side.
Decide how big you want the pockets of your purse organizer will be and attach pins to mark it. You can draw chalk lines to follow for sewing the compartments.
Step 3: Sew Them Together
Lastly, you can either use a sewing machine or sew it by hand. Start with attaching the pocket strips to the base on both sides by laying the base flat. After attaching the pocket strips, fold the base in half and start binding both sides with a 1/4” seam allowance.
Voila! You can now put your essentials in your purse organizer and throw it in your bag for easy access.
